Television Celebrities from “Survivor” Series to Visit Maine to help raise funds and awareness for
AFFM (Foster Families of Maine)
Kittery,
ME ….August 22,2007: Sue Pollard has gathered almost 30 women who will donate their time to ride on motorbikes
across the country from Kittery, ME to Chicago to raise awareness about AFFM (Foster Families of Maine) in the hopes to meet
Oprah Winfrey. Sue’s relentless attitude to never give up is what gave her the courage to put together a fundraising
motorcycle ride to raise money for AFFM. On Sunday. September 9th Sue will depart Kittery ME from Kittery Trading Post to ride motorcycles
to Oprah Winfrey’s front door step. Pollard states, ”I love Oprah, who doesn’t, she’s an advocate
for children and women alike, I thought it’s not too far to ride to Chicago to get Oprah’s blessing which
would be the ultimate goal.”
Sue first
heard from AFFM from Barbara Ford, President of AFFM who happen to read Sue’s book called “The Alternate Survivor,”
a book about how Sue narrowly missed being on the show. When Barbara read her book she was so impressed with Sue’s
tenacity and thought that there must be a way they both could work together to help raise funds to help the kids; thus the
“Dare to Dream 4 Kids” first annual charity ride was created by Sue Pollard. Among the other riders
who will help raise support for AFFM will be national celebrities Bobby Jon Drinkard best known for his role on (Survivor
from Guatemala & Palau), John Palyok JP, (Survivor from Vanuatu),
Big Tom Buchanan, (Survivor for Africa & All Stars), and Stephanie LaGrossa (Survivor for Guatemala &
Palau). These survivors will donate their time by riding and also by signing autographs at 3 locations
with Sue Pollard the organizer of this event.
