Kittery Trading Post® Announces they will support

Sue Pollard, “The Alternate Survivor” in her quest to help

raise funds to support AFFM, Adoptive Foster Families of Maine

July 11, 2007…. Kittery Trading Post is pleased to announce they will support Sue Pollard formerly a finalist on the nationally syndicated television show “Survivor”, Sue missed the cut to be on the show by one person.  Sue’s relentless attitude to never give up is what gave her the courage to put together a fundraising motorcycle ride to raise money for AFFM (Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine).  Sue first heard about AFFM from Barbara Ford, President of AFFM who read Sue’s recent book called “The Alternate Survivor,” which is a book about how Sue narrowly missed being chosen to be on the show.  When Barbara read her book she was so impressed with Sue’s tenacity and thought that there must be a way they both could work together to help raise funds to help the kids; thus the “Dare to Dream 4 Kids” first annual charity ride was created by Sue Pollard.  Sue’s goal is to raise $500,000.00 for the kids of AFFM.

Sue will gather 50 women of all ages from across New England on Sunday, September 9th to ride motorcycles to Oprah Winfrey’s front door step.  Pollard states,”I love Oprah, who doesn’t, she’s an advocate for children and women alike.  I thought it’s not too far to ride to Chicago to get Oprah’s blessing which would be the ultimate goal.”  Sue also states, ”what a great role model to have these woman aspire to.”  It should take three days to get there and three days back, with one day in Chicago.  Sue thought it would be fun for the woman to share stories eat some good Chicago food and get ready for the ride back to Maine.  The ride will be filmed by John Lane Film, Inc. which will hopefully be used in the future as a documentary as a future Lifetime movie.  Sue is raising the funds through various sponsors, local business and a committee she has organized with seven friends.  The women do not need to donate but they will partake in this ride to help Sue raise awareness for AFFM for the kids.  The ride is 1052 miles each way and AFFM will donate housing facilities for the entire woman to stay in along the route.

On Sunday, September 9th, the ride will begin from Bethany Church in Greenland, NH where the women will have a church service to pray for guidance, a safe trip and donations for the kids.   The ride will then proceed to Kittery Trading Post at 1:00 pm where Sue will make a brief speech and a special visit from two of Sue’s friends from the actual show Survivor (names not being released now as it will be the “Ultimate Surprise” to the public as to who these Survivors are).  There will be an autograph session at the Kittery Trading Post to meet the Survivors and Sue will donate proceeds from her book to AFFM through a book signing.  The Survivors will also be joining the fifty women on the ride to Chicago.  The ride will continue to Seacoast Harley Davidson in North Hampton where Sue will make another brief speech and then the ride will take place to Chicago, IL.
