Sue Pollard is looking for 50 women to ride from Kittery, Maine to Chicago, IL.

Our destination is Oprah’s Show!

Sunday September 9th – Sunday September 16th 2007.

This fundraiser is all about raising money and bringing awareness to

Foster & Adoptive Children.

I am looking for fifty women to ride the ride!  Our goal is to raise $500,000.00 to help children to have a better life!

Here’s my story:  My name is Sue Pollard.  I live in Ogunquit, Maine.  I am

Forty-nine years young and I love children.  I have served on my local school board going on ten years.  I am and have always been for the under dog.

I wrote a book called “The Alternate Survivor” www.thealternatesurvivor.com

It’s my story about how I missed the cut by one on the reality show “Survivor”.

I decided to give some of my proceeds from my book to the organization AFFM “Adoptive, Foster Families of Maine”.  The reason for this is because I believe these children are truly the “Real Survivors”.

In June I called the President of the organization, Barbara Ford.  I asked her how things are going.   This is what she replied.  I can't talk right now, I'm supervising a visit with a little guy with his Biological Mother, then I need to go to a meeting with another little guy's therapist." It amazed me and made me think about just how much Foster Parents do in their daily lives to make a difference for children who have been abused and neglected. Foster Parents stand in the gap to make a hurting child's life safe and give them hope for a brighter future. Rather than look the other way they open their hearts and homes for children who have suffered physical, emotional, psychological, sexual abuse, and neglect. They believe they can make the difference in a child's life and teach them to trust once again. The sacrifice of their own time and resources does not stop these unsung hero's! It is a calling, a ministry in their own homes. I began to think about what it takes for these Foster Parents to continue the important work they do, and how I could make a difference in the support of Foster Parents and the children they help heal"

While I was driving home I passed two women on motorcycles and a light went off in my head.  I had just recently bought myself a motorcycle for Mother’s Day.  So I thought why don’t I get fifty women together and drive from Kittery, Maine to Oprah’s Show in Chicago.

In five short weeks I have collected $72K so far with many more pledges for the ride.  I know it’s not my goal of $500,000.00 but with everyone’s help we can do it!

With the generous help of Seacoast Harley Davidson, Kittery Trading Post and all the other bighearted sponsors we will make this happen for these children!

ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God has given everyone of us a variety of gifts and one of my many gifts from Him is Perseverance!  I refuse to take NO for an answer!

So I am asking you women, are you ready to help me make these kids dreams come true?  Two of my good friends from the show “Survivor” are riding with us!

So ladies are you ready for a little excitement?
